I first started playing volleyball in elementary school with my older sister. She would come home, and I would help her practice. Immediately, I fell in love with the sport and could not wait to play on an actual team. I was so in love with this sport and every day after school I would come home and pepper against a wall when no one was there to play with me. Even when no one was there to practice with me, I would always find ways to practice by myself.
Over the years, volleyball has become a huge part of my life and who I am. I believe that playing on a team creates unbreakable bonds between teammates. Volleyball is a sport that relies on trust in yourself, your teammates, and your coaches. My sophomore year was the most impactful because while we had a lot of success, we also had a lot of challenges and losses that we had to overcome together. Our team fought for every achievement and learned from every setback together. I was the youngest on this team and had to be outgoing and confident in order to play with this new group of girls. Another experience that I learned a lot from was my freshman year club season. I have never been pushed as hard as I was by that coach and my teammates. I became stronger mentally and physically and have been a better player and person since. I am dedicated to this sport and am ready to put in the work that will get me where I want to go.
