My dad is 6’7 & played basketball from youth to through college and took his team to Final Four in NY as St. Thomas University’s Center. Unfortunately he blindsided my mom with divorce in 2014 upon my discovering his cell phone (I was 10) and from that moment forward not only did he stop supporting me in athletics but actually went out of his way in our Family Court System demand I not be allowed to play.
For all the years he has set me back in advancing amongst my peers he has ignited a fire in me to rise up and overcome. I’m here to pursue my dream of playing collegiate volleyball in honor of regaining what my dad took from me and for every child that has tragically suffered a similar fate due to divorce. Divorce should stand for the end of a marriage, not the end of a child’s right to play.
