Zoey Albert '23 Recruiting Profile

Growing up, my parents have always supported me in everything I do.  When I approached them about playing a sport for the first time they were very eager to help me. I first started out by playing basketball, I had almost no interest in playing volleyball at the time. Then one day I decided to watch the U.S. women's volleyball team play and from that point on all I wanted was to play volleyball.

 While I still play basketball and participate in track and field, volleyball is my passion. Like most young kids, I did not start out as the best volleyball player, but throughout middle school I did both school and club volleyball which helped me really develop my skills. I am very lucky to have such supportive parents because if it weren't for them I would have never been able to pursue volleyball so fiercely. When I started high school I was one of the best in my class and by my Sophomore year I was given the opportunity to sit varsity. 

Now, as a Junior, I am a varsity starter  and I consistently lead my team in kills, digs, serving percentage, and passing percentage.  What I lack in size I make up for in hustle and energy, which is probably one of the reasons I am so successful. I have constantly been told by coaches and spectators that they love the energy I bring to the court and how I am able to lift up my teammates when they are struggling.  That is something I pride myself on. I strive to connect with more colleges in the hopes that while I further my academic career, I can also further my volleyball career.
