Personal Statement
The first game of the "L'il Squirts" season was the turning point for my passion for basketball: I told my dad (also my coach) I wanted to be a cheerleader as I did not even like basketball. He told me I made a commitment to my team that I was obligated to keep, which I did. By the end of the season, basketball was my passion at age five.
I went on to play AAU travel ball for four years from fifth through eighth grade. We won multiple tournament championships, and I was the leading scorer and rebounder on my team most games. I have been a starter on the varsity team since my first game at Bigfork High School as a freshman. I am just finishing my junior year at BHS, which was my most productive year on the court so far: I have doubled my average points per game, ending the season with 17.1 PPG. I am looking forward to my senior season and then moving on to college ball. I want to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. After graduating college, I would like to coach basketball and teach school.
My style of play is attacking on offense and tenacious on defense. I pride myself on the "coast to coast" steal and lay-up. I am equally adept at attacking either side of the basket. Although I am right-handed, my left hand may be strongest when I am going to the basket. This year my three-point shot has really improved and I have developed a nice midrange jump shot; but the strength of my game is attacking the basket from the perimeter. I am a hard worker that lives for a new challenge.
