My sports journey began on the basketball court, but volleyball has always been a part of my life. After playing basketball for 6 years, I realized that playing volleyball was my true love and passion and decided to only play volleyball. I had grown up watching my dad play the game and as I learned more about the game, I began to fall more in love with it. With the help of my dad, I learned every position and the importance that fundamentals were to the game.
This year, I found a club team that supported everyone and treated each other like a family, which is what I look for in a college team. During my club season, my team trusted me with my serving and looked to me to get kills. I want to be part of a school that can challenge me, not only on the court but in the classroom. As an all-A student, I strive for the best in myself and in everything I do.
As I am learning to manage my heavy school workload of honors classes, volleyball has become my escape and helps me recharge and release stress. Being on the court has also helped me connect with people, it has been a way for me to learn how to get out of my comfort zone and learn to trust others on the court. As I grow with my teammates, I have come to understand when they are getting down on themselves and may need help, even when they want to shut everyone out. This helps off the court as well because I love to help people, and want to go into the medical field where I would be able to do just that every day.
