Personal Statement
Hello,
My name is Phoebe Hobbs. I am currently in 10th grade at Ridgepoint High School in Missouri City, Texas, where I am a part of the Junior Varsity squad. After my parents introduced me to volleyball, I quickly became obsessed. When I am not working out or in the gym practicing, I am watching old games or on YouTube looking up skills and working to get stronger and better to be the best I can for my team. I am fortunate to be working with a private coach on the skills setting, hitting and defense at my current club, Absolute Volleyball Academy in Webster, Texas. I have learned that strength and conditioning training is going to be a key factor in my growth as a player. My key role is as a setter, so it is important to me to always arrive early to warm up and get some reps in before practices and games begin. Also over the summer I volunteered with the mini club in my neighborhood. I helped show the players correct form when passing and setting.
Academics are the key to my successes as I begin to look at colleges and set my sights on a future collegiate athletic career. Being a sophomore in high school has definitely increased my drive to want to be my best inside and outside of the classroom. As a junior, I am taking AAC physics, AAC anatomy I am also enjoying floral design and broadcasting as my elective. To add, during the summer I plan to enroll in Texas Techs online speech class so I can get my speech credit out of the way.
