Kate Barnes '22 Recruiting Profile

Throughout middle school and high school, I have worked hard to become and maintain the top spot in my class. Over the last couple of years, I have developed interest in science, which has lead me to want to go into medicine. Going into medicine takes a lot of work, but I know I have what it takes to be successful. I'm hard-working, self-motivated, driven, and passionate in all that I do, on and off the court. I'm looking for a college that pushes and encourages me to reach my goals both athletically and academically. 

In a small school, playing every sport is usually a must, but every athlete has that one sport they want to be the best at... mine is volleyball. I've spent countless hours in the gym working on basic skills and technique. I've played on traveling leagues, and I've had many private lessons. I've spent most of the time in "quarantine" at the school perfecting my skills, as well as helping my cousin get better. I'm a leader on the court and in the classroom. As an underclassman, it was hard to be a vocal leader because I was so much younger than my teammates, but through my actions, I was able to lead in a different way. Now that I'm a junior, I'm excited for the opportunity to fill a vocal leadership role. 

I am an outside hitter on my team, but I'm also our best defensive specialist. I'm very consistent and dependable. When the game is on the line, my coaches and teammates look to me for reassurance. I'm calm in chaotic situations, and my positive and encouraging attitude helps my teammates feel the same way. I'm super pumped to see what this season has in store for my teammates and I!
