Volleyball has taught me a lot about myself, and I've always had a love for the sport. From being the loudest cheerleader for my older sister as I sat in the stands watching, to being the last girl to leave the gym after practice, begging for another rep on the ball; I just can't get enough of the sport. Which is why I hope to play past my 4 years of high school and take my talent and love for the sport to a college level. I've learned that there is nothing that drives me more than teamwork, and no relationships stronger than those I've shared on the court. I've also learned that disappointment can lead to a self desire to work harder and become a better athlete. I love the competitiveness of the game, and I've experienced first hand that you can't win a game, or anything for that matter, without pushing beyond your own limits to become a better athlete. Academically, same applies. My goals for high school include maintaining a high GPA, and taking college courses. As a sophomore, I've already started taking medical terminology and heath science classes at our community college. As for my athletics, I am working to motivate and encourage my team, in both basketball and volleyball, to bring home the state title. Hard work and diligence are cornerstones. If you don't give whatever you're doing 110%, why are you doing it? I've learned from older classmen the importance of leadership and reputation, on and off the court. Good character is important, and is a reflection of what you can bring to a team. Commitment is needed if you aspire to succeed or compete at a high level. Not only does the love for the sport drive me to work harder to achieve my dreams and becoming a college athlete, but also the lessons learned on the court that have stuck with me. The heartbreaks after losing a game, even when every ounce of energy and sweat was left of the court. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you learn. Nothing is stopping me from achieving my dreams.
