Personal Statement
My name is Olivia Morehead and I am a Senior at Roane County High School, located in Spencer, West Virginia.
Ever since my first volleyball game in the 6th grade, I have truly found my passion and love for the game; a game that has challenged and strengthened me both mentally and physically on and off the court. It is my intention, and hope, to continue my passion in college.
In high school, I have been honored to play varsity all four years as a Lady Raider of Roane County High School. During my high school varsity career, I have served as captain both my Junior and Senior years. I was also honored by my teammates as the Lady Raider of the Year, which is an award given to the player that exemplifies the qualities of the "ideal" player. My coaches and teammates always tell me that I am full of energy and that I never stop pushing myself in practice and games.
My love for the game has led me to playing travel ball for the past five years, having played for Appalachian Volleyball Academy (OVR) for 4 years, and one year with Vantage Volleyball (OVR).
While volleyball is my passion, I value my education just as much. That is why I strive and push myself for academic success in the classroom. This has led me to maintaining a 3.75 GPA all through high school, being inducted into the National Honor Society my Junior year, taking advanced/college classes, and am currently ranked in the top 6% of my class.
My community is also important to me. That is why I volunteer my time to help serve the youth in my county. I am one of Roane County's 4-H Junior Leaders (Treasurer), volunteer at the 4-H camp, educate youth about farming through Future Farmer's of America (FFA), help with food drives during the holidays to help local families, and will be volunteering as a support staff for the varsity football team this year.
