Softball, my passion since freshman year of high school. Yeah, I didn't start as early as others, but that didn't stop me. I worked with batting coaches and did several softball camps and I even practiced with my dad in the backyard. Starting, as some would call, late didn't change my attitude towards softball. It actually made me want to work harder.
Softball not only taught me that I could work for what I wanted, it taught me how to work as a team. My softball team for Magruder were very close, we would hang out every weekend and we showed our bond on the field being divison champions. Why do I want to play college ball? The experience, the fun, the hard work, the team work, the commitment are all in one place. I seek not only to work with my team mates and my coaches but to learn and grow from them. Softball has taught me what nothing else has. It taught me to push myself and come out shining. And I strive for that feeling in my next milestone, college.
People and family were shocked to see me play softball. I just started playing and I was as good if not better as the other players, they would say. They saw my "natural born athletic ability" and helped me use it. And every team I was on everyone would say, "Izzy, you are so fast." And I soon became the bunting queen as my Dad likes to say. My teammates would also notice how I slide into the bases. For example, I made it safe at home by sliding around the catcher and touching the base where it was hard to tag me. I have a few tricks up my sleeve they said.
My high school coach never gave up on me, and that is what I'm looking for in a college coach. Someone that will not just tell me I made an error but will work with me to improve it for next time. That will push me and help me sucessed. I will listen to the coache(s) and to my teammates needs and guidance. My goal to play at a divison three or a divison two school and be apart of a team again. :)
