Growing up in a military family, I had more than my share of moves. Moving all over the country has given me a greater appreciation for diversity and opened new windows of opportunity. Starting over never came easy for me, but running always gave me the gift of community. Military life has taught me to be adaptable, face challenges head on, and find the good in every situation. In each new state I found a new diverse group of girls that cared for one another and pushed each other to be their best selves on and off the track.
I’ve had a passion for competing for as long as I can remember, starting in my elementary school’s “Girls on the Run” program. I love the thrill of the start, the challenge of running my own unique race, and the chance to prove the hard training was worth it. As a current team captain, I'm excited to build off my successful junior year, winning states in the 4x800, setting new PRs, and breaking school records.
It was also this community of runners along with my church that inspired my love for helping others. Over the past 6 years I’ve been involved in multiple mission trips to Mexico to build homes, helped organize 2 fundraisers raising over $10,000 for the NephCure Foundation, and cofounded a volunteer club at my high school to give back to our community.
I am grateful for all of these experiences because it has given me a focus for my next chapter of my life. A career in sports medicine will allow me to pursue my passions for learning, sports and helping others.
I’m so excited to run competitively in college. I am determined to run with the best and continue challenging myself and my teammates to be their best self on and off the track.
