My name is Virag Murphy. I am a sophomore middle blocker from Reston, Virginia. I play for South Lakes High School and Grit Volleyball Club. When I think about why I would like to have the opportunity to play at the college level, it's because of my love for the game of volleyball. When I first touched a volleyball freshman year, I learned how to be a team player, communicate with my teammates, and to still have determination even when facing difficulties. After my first club season with Grit, I was moved up from JV to be a varsity starter at my school.
Along with the demanding schedule of practice and matches, I successfully balanced my academic grades as well by maintaining a 4.2 GPA in all honors classes. Academically, I am interested in pursuing a career in medicine and looking for a school with a stellar program. My future goals are to improve at the highest level possible by playing at a college that is fit for both my academics and athletics. I am a hard worker, passionate for the sport of volleyball, and persistent in the game.
