My name is Casey Lambert and I am a Libero/DS/Setter. I am a 3rd year starting varsity player for Barrington High School, Barrington, RI. I was a 6 year player for the Blast Volleyball Club located in RI, participating on their U12, U14, and U15 Open teams. This past club season of 2018-2019 I was an athlete with the SMASH Volleyball Club located in Newton, MA. I was very fortunate to be with SMASH. My team was able to win a 16 Open Gold Bracket tournament and finish 3rd in the U16 Open NERVA Championships. The coaching staff and teams associated with SMASH are very well known for developing high level players and maintaining high standards of play. These standards helped me establish a higher and more mature set of norms which also helped me to improve upon my skill level in the game.
For the past few summerl I have extended my knowledge of volleyball by attending and playing in multiple beach and grass volleyball tournaments through Newport Volleyball and South County Juniors (Both located in RI). Playing with both juniors and adults in these events has increased my volleyball IQ, particularly the adult tournaments. With the range of competition and skill mixed with smarts, these beach seasons have always kept me on my toes and have helped to develop the quick-wittedness that I have adapted over the past few years. Additionally, I attended many college camps over the past few summers. This includes summer camps at the University of Rhode Island, a Nike camp at Simmons University (Boston, MA), and a day camp at Bryant University (Smithfield, RI).
Transitioning to high school season was also very exciting and very eye-opening. As a Freshman, I was a part of the 2017 RI semifinalist, Division 1 Barrington team. After suffering an ACL tear in 2017 and recovering for over 9 months, my determination and motivation for becoming the best player I could be put in place my 'never quit' mindset for my Sophmore season of 2018. Being a starting setter for our team that year also gave me the idea of never being out of the game mentally, and as a result, my contributions helped our team to the Division 1 State Finals. Now it's 2019 and as a Junior, starting setter, and captain of this season's high school team, I am looking to do the best I can for the team, to be the best teammate I can, and to play the best I can, hoping and striving for another trip to states.
As I start looking into my future now, my main focus is to find the college or university that fits with my interests. Not only does my determination and 'never quit' attitude show when I'm on a court, but it also reflects my academic life. As a Freshman, I was able to make the honor roll with all A's and B's and was able to sustain a 3.7 GPA. Going into my Sophmore year, working hard and pushing through the harder classes, I was able to make high honors with all A's and increased my GPA to a 3.83339. Now as a Junior in my hardest year of high school, I have decided to challenge myself even more with an honors math class and an AP Bio class, while pushing myself to keep my GPA at a 3.9. Going into my future I am very set on going into the medical field and studying Physical Therapy. Through my love for science and passion for being the best person I can be, I believe this field is the best fit for me.
I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read my biography and getting to know a bit about me by looking through my profile.
