I played baseball for nine years of my childhood. I figured I would play in high school, and had dreams to even possibly play at a collegiate level. That all changed the day I first picked up a golf club. What I thought would just be a one-time day of fun on the course with my dad in Hawaii ended up being the beginning of something much bigger than that. After that first day on a golf course in Kaanapali, I traded in my bat for a driver, and traded in my catcher's glove for a golf glove. Golf and my academics are two unmeasurably important components of my life. I am currently taking as many AP courses and as many math & science courses I can during my high school years in order to spend more of my collegiate years focusing on coursework that will propel me toward my lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. I push myself to excel in my academics, and have never received less than an A in a class, or less than a 4.0 on a report card. I plan to continue to set these academic expectations for myself in my undergraduate studies, as well as in medical graduate school. For as long as I can remember, I have never aspired to be anything other than a professional in the medical field. Athletically, I live and breathe golf. I am on the course year round, golfing every opportunity I get. I compete for my high school team, as well as for the Golf Channel Amateur Tour in preparation for golfing at the collegiate level. Playing with the Golf Channel has provided me the opportunity to play with a variety of players of all skill level and age. As a result of playing with/competing against adults, I am proud to have been commended on multiple occasions for my maturity, etiquette on the course, and level of sportsmanship for a sixteen-year-old. Golf is my hobby, my passion, my outlet, and my source of inspiration and motivation. It provides me with constant opportunities to challenge myself, to grow as a person and an athlete, and to connect with and learn from other individuals who share the love of the sport. Both academically and athletically, I set very high personal expectations for myself and graciously accept any guidance given to help me be the best I can be- in the classroom, on the course, and in life. I am a fast learner, a dedicated scholar, a competitive player, a supportive teammate, and a driven athlete. I have a drive (pun intended) that exceeds that of most of my peers, as I embrace challenges and am fueled by pushing myself toward higher levels of excellence. It is my drive, dedication, willingness to work hard, and self-driven mindset that will make me an excellent, committed scholar, and a valuable member to a collegiate golf team.
