As a human being I have been tested in many ways. I was tested when I was born into an unsafe situation. I was tested when I had to try and raise a baby to the best of a five year old capability. I was tested when I grew up not knowing, or not wanting to know what comes next. I was tested when I had to grow up to fast. I was tested when I was put in foster care. I was tested when I was adopted. I was tested when I didn't learn how to read until fifth grade. I was tested when I had to see all of the adversity that my mothers had to go through, and being afraid of who I was because of it. I was tested when I never accepted love, or help. I was tested academically. I have been tested during my sports career many, many times. As an athlete, your number one job is to learn, love, accept, and persevere. I got out of my situation from finally taking things into my hands, not waiting for someone to finally see what was going on. My brother finally got to grow up. I am excited for the future, I am finally learning how to heal. I stayed positive and I found a happy home. I love English and writing, it's one of my ways to express myself. I actively fight for equality, I changed the castle rocks Daddy Daughter ball to the Summer ball. I changed the DC'S IB program application form to guardian instead of strictly mother and father information. I am learning that I am loved and I can love. I have struggled in math especially, but I got the math freshman of the year award. Athletically, I have had ups and downs, hitting slumps and position changes. But I never stopped trying. I persevered. I feel in love with the game, and am ready to dedicate my life to the sport that helped save me. I wan't to be a part of your program because I love this sport and I want to have the opportunity to play softball through collage. I stand out from your other very worthy candidates because I am a persistent person, a fighter, and it is rare to find someone who loves the game as much at me.
Thank you.
