I started track in the 8th grade. I wasn’t quite sure what it was or if I’d be good at it. My coach put me in the 2 mile and 1 mile, and from there on I began winning medals. I discovered a talent I had no idea I had. Freshman year I was talked into doing cross country. The practices were DREADFUL, but it all paid off when I got my first medal. After that I thought hey I really like this sport. Some days when I felt like quitting, it all paid off when I got the satisfaction of a medal or a PR. Throughout the years I discovered, this is my sport, this is what I want to do. Each year I strives to get better and I continue to strive for greatness. Cross country is my favorite sport, so if I were to continue anything in college cross country would be it. I live in a very small town in Oklahoma. We are not very great at sports but the one sport we are most known for is cross country. This last year we won 5 team championships, and won regionals as a team. I won 3 individual championships as well. I also PRed this season with a time of 13:12 for two miles. This next school year 2020-2021, I will be a senior. My goals for this next season is to get my times in the 12s and get a all-state jacket at the state cross country meet. I hope I can achieve these goals, and continue this sport throughout college.
