Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Ed Fulton. I was born in Siberia, and moved to Minnesota when I was 22 months old. I've always enjoyed sports, including soccer, hockey, golf and skiing; but baseball is my first love.
I joined my first traveling team (Minneapolis Youth Baseball Association) when I was 8, and played with them for 7 years. I had the opportunity to join the Washburn HS freshman team as an 8th grader, and was one of two 8th graders who made the roster (SS/2B/P). I played on both the freshman and JV teams as a 9th grader, and played VFW ball with the JV squad last summer. During my junior year, I started at second and was named Varsity Player of the game April 18, 2015. In 2015, the Minneapolis Washburn Millers were City Conference Champions. I have already been named starting shortstop for the 2016 season.
I've played fall/winter ball throughout high school on the following teams: the Minnesota MASH (18U), Project Baseball (Minnesota Men of Baseball) (16U) and the St. Paul Saints Development Program (15AAA).
My busy sports schedule has actually helped me focus more on academics. I manage my time better when I'm busy, and my coaches all emphasize the importance of keeping my grades up. My current GPA is just under 3.0; but I'm committed to getting above that level by the end of the year.
My future goals include playing for a junior college and going on to finish my bachelor's degree at a university.
