Benjamin Huckaby '13 Recruiting Profile

College.  It has been engrained into my being by my parents and teachers since I was a child.  

I am going to college. 

My dream would be to continue to play the sport I’m passionate about for four more years at the collegiate level.

There is no sport in my mind in which the players are more interdependent on each other than football.  I know when I carry the football across the line of scrimmage, it is because the lineman cleared a path for me.  I know when I catch a pass it’s because there is a quarterback there to throw it to me, and lineman to protect the quarterback.  

My father was a lineman--and he has reminded me that when I cross the goal line with that football, it is a reflection of the accomplishments of the eleven men on the field, not just the one or two that got to touch the ball.    

I am looking to compete in a program that fosters that kind of interdependency on each other; that puts the needs of the team above the needs of the individual.  I want to play in a program that will encourage me to learn and grow, while working together as a team to accomplish our common goal: a championship.
