Race Johnson '13 Recruiting Profile

     “Never, never, never, never give up.”  Winston Churchill said this in 1941 at Harrow School after the Blitz.  This is my approach to life and football.  I believe that with hard work and determination anything is possible.  When I was younger many people tried to limit me based upon my size.  (I am 5'11" and 180 pounds.)  Instead of giving up, I worked harder than anyone else and that hard work has paid off.

     I attend Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana.  As a freshman I started as a Defensive Back on the freshman team.  When I was a sophomore I started for the Junior Varsity team, played on the Varsity’s Special Teams, and earned my first Varsity letter.  While earning a letter in football as a sophomore at Carmel is exciting, I was not satisfied.  My dream was to start as a junior.
      In August 2011, this dream became reality.  I started at Defensive Back and Punt Return.  Not only did I start, but I had an exciting season that included 75 total tackles (47 solo), 3 interceptions, 12 pass breakups, and 3 quarterback sacks.  My biggest game happened on my 17^th birthday.  Carmel was playing Warren Central, then ranked 13^th in the nation, for the Sectional Championship.  I prevented a touchdown by ripping the ball from a receiver’s hands and then on Warren’s final drive in the last second of the game I intercepted the potentially game winning pass. Carmel went on to win the 5A State Championship and I was named to the 5A IFCA Junior All-State Team.  We were also named 4^th in the nation by MaxPreps.
      I am looking forward to playing one more year of high school football and hopefully another State Title.  It is my dream to play football in college and I am looking for a program that will give me this opportunity.  After college I would like to work for the FBI or CIA and I see football as an integral part of preparing me for my future.

     I will never give up as I strive to reach my goals and dreams.
