Personal Statement
I am 5'10 and weigh roughly between 160-165 given the day and my diet. I run a 4.59 40 yard dash and jump roughly and 33-34' vertical. I am usually considered to be a vocal leader on and off the field and choose to lead by example. Much of my leadership skills stimulate at home with my little brother, and also over the summer. For the past three summers I have worked at a summer camp, being a group facilitator. Therefore, I am put in predicaments which force me to lead by example. Also, most of my friends consider me to be a funny guy at the right times. Usually when things seem to be in the worst conditions possible, I tend to try and lean towards a joke to ease the tension and also to create a unified feeling betweens my friends and teammates. I am a very hard and dedicated worker. About two months ago, considering today's date is 1/4/2012, I was benching roughly 150 and struggling. But being self-determined, and creating a strong mindset I was able to get my bench up to 205 in a matter of weeks. I am currently repping 205 and steadily going up in weight being in the weight room every day. I have a strong drive when it comes to reaching my personal goals. My goals over the next few years are to get physically bigger and stronger, and to improve skillfully and mentally where ever I end up in going to college. Most people are quick to write me off because I am not the biggest athlete out there, but once they see me play and my eager drive to win, their opinions usually change. Geographically, I would love to play ball on the east coast or even the central section of the U.S. I just don't want to be to far away from family. But if the oppertunity were to come up and I was able to play on the other coast for a great institution, I would definetly fly with it. The size of the school doesn't necessarily matter to me, the educational standpoint is my concern. My family and I are very big into education. My parents both have sacrificed a lot to keep me at private school all my life. Currently at St. Paul's, I am in the process of getting my IB diploma. I take several IB higher level courses, while maintaining a 3.6-3.7 core gpa. However, I would still apply for financial aid. Both of my parents work two different jobs to keepy my brother and I in private school and are continuing to struggle. In college my desired major will be some form of engineering. Since my mom is an engineer, I have seemed to take more of an interest in that particular field. Going into college I have one major atheltic goal; I want to have the oppertunity to play football for another four years and improve in every aspect of the game. I want to progress mentally, and physically whether it be D1 or D3. The division is not a factor to me, the oppertunity to play is what matters most. I do not plan to start my freshman year, mainly because nothing has ever been easily given to me. I have always had to work for what I want. I have had to fight for my starting position on varsity and plan to fight again as well in college. Though, if I did happen to earn a starting spot my freshman or sophmore year, I would make the best of it. I would work extremely hard to maintain it and wouldn't slack off in the least bit. My mind set is based on making the best of every oppertunity God directs my way.
