Birk Olson '13 Recruiting Profile

I'm Birk Olson, and I'm a 6'3", 240 pound defensive end/fullback. My best time is a 4.65 (40).  I started varsity my sophomore year, and both ways my junior year.  I'm currently at the top of my class with a 4.0 GPA, and I'm taking the most difficult course work offered.  I spend upwards of twelve hours a week working out independently of the team, and am the current "hour leader" in the weight room.  In the spring of 2011, my lifting totals surpassed a thousand pounds (bench, clean, parallel squat), a feat never accomplished by a sophomore in my school's history. I believe my dedication has served as an example for the rest of the team, whose weight room and off-season practice attendance has never been higher.  On the field, I'm a positive teammate who brings a lot of energy.  For the 2012 season,  I was elected captain and received a number of post season awards, including Mississippi 8 Conference MVP, Academic All-State, and First Team Defense, All-Metro (Star Tribune & KARE 11), and AP All- State. As for college selection, academics are the most important factor.  Geographic location and other features won't sway my selection much.  My desired major is either mathematics or biology with hopes of going into medicine after my undergraduate years.  My goal in football is to play at the highest level I can, whatever that may be, and have it contribute positively to my college experience.
