I decided to tryout for football as a kicker and punter in my sophomore year since I loved kicking footballs in my downtime, yet deep down inside, I knew I wanted to be a part of another family. Over the last two years, I have impressed coaches and my teammates with how much I have grown. During the preseason, I have improved on my leg speed by taking advice from former kickers and reviewing drills to improve my technique. I have continued to improve on little things that matter such as timing by going to private sessions at Kohl's Kicking and devoting extra time to practicing on my own and exercising at the gym.
I would not be where I am today making a huge impact on my team if I did not take my coach's motto "Battle" seriously. During school, I apply the same motto to my school work. I keep up with my grades and make sure everything is done right and on time so I can be there for my team. During football, I come ready to practice as much I come to school ready to learn. I push myself to outwork other players at workouts so I can gain strength and earn respect. I am eager to learn from my mistakes, and fix the little things such as technique, so my kicks and punts can always get better.
In the community, I enjoy volunteering at organizations, but I believe it is not just about helping others outside of school, it is about helping others around me. I always like to cheer people up, assist, and give encouragement to others because it is just the right thing to do. I might not be social enough to be a "leader," but real leaders lead by example.
It is a blessing to play high school football, but playing a sport that has changed my life for two years will not be enough. I am confident that I will be an outstanding recruit for your program while earning my Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering degree. Rest assured, that when I am called on to be there for the team, you can count on me to get the job done!
