Personal Statement

My goals for high school and college are ambitious in the sense that i'm trying to get AP and college classes done now, as a junior in high school. This year I am taking 5 AP or college courses out of my 6 available periods for classes during the day to try and get a head start in college. Through taking all of these college-level courses I am maintaining and will work to maintain a good GPA. When I go to college I would like to get a bachelors degree in a major related to computer science, engineering, or business. Other than the school aspect of my life I do possess a few cool skills most people don't know about me. I have taken 6+ years of piano lessons and have been playing for almost 10 years. I enjoy computers, figuring out how they work, and how to build them. I am interested in programming, graphic design, and am a big PC gamer. I also take interest in space, the universe, and other things related to theory such as theoretical mathematics. Some of my idols include people in space related fields such as Niel Degrasse Tyson and Bill Nye. On the subject of basketball I started playing in 7th grade. I started playing because right before the season would have started I was reached out to by the varsity coach and asked if I was at all interested in playing. I had told him I was and he had kept in contact with me during the season, seeing how I was doing and eventually encouraged me to try out for JV the next year. I have learned a lot from playing basketball, especially because I have played now 3 years of varsity basketball starting as a freshman. As a 9th grader surrounded by kids who were much older than me at the time leading me in the direction I needed to be going in to get better, I learned key skills about leadership and how a team needs to function to succeed. Now being a captain for my 3rd season I have been able to lead guys through our wins and inevitable losses. I would like to go to a school that has not only a good athletics program but also a good academic program as-well. As I have stated before I not only want to achieve big things related to basketball, I also want to make my education a main focus in my college years.
