Javan Gray '11 Recruiting Profile

I am 6'3" and weigh approximately 220 pounds. Accomplishments:Former national record holder in 14-U javelin (189'), 3 time national USATF Junior Olympic Champion (age 12 and 14 in discus and age 14 in shot put) and 6-time All-American, named Oregon Field Athlete of the Year by USATF/Oregon (2007). As a high schooljunior placed in top 4 at 5A state meet in 3 events scoring 19 and team's 41 points to secure 4th place high school team trophy (2010), USATF Junior Olympics Regional champion is shot put, discus, and javelin and 4th place in National Junior Olympics in Sacramento, CA as one of the youngest in the age group (2010). I like to throw and spend extra time outside of the regular practices to lift weights and practice my throwing technique. I am anxious to learn more and to improve and have attended some camps this summer so that I can improve substantially my senior year. I am open to diverse experiences so region of the counrty does not matter. Size of school does not matter, but I would prefer Division I or II. I am searching for a school with the following: a) good academics and support for athletes,the school must have quality education in the business management or health management fields b) a track and field coaching staff that is dedicated to excellence and who provides a skilled and motivated coach for the throwing events (especially the javelin), c) a school with good throwing facilities (again, especially for javelin), d) a school with reasonably priced tuition, room and board should a full scholarship not be offered. My desired major is something in the business management or health management fields. My goal is to be competitive and be a conference place finisher my freshman year in a Division 1 or II college and to compete at a national level at a Division 1 or II college thereafer.
