    What the Coaches are Saying...
    Sep 11, 2018

“The Sage Colleges has officially added field hockey and I have been named the Gators’ first Field Hockey Coach. I am thrilled about the opportunity to start the program from scratch and would like to share that unique opportunity with you. You could be a part of the first goal, the first win, the first Empire 8 Conference championship and the first NCAA tournament bid! These are all goals of mine and it will take players like you to commit to the exciting challenge ahead and pave the way for the program’s success. It is my goal to have a field hockey program full of well-rounded student-athletes with strong academic records and personal qualities. I encourage my players to welcome the challenges of a topnotch education and the building of a nationally recognized field hockey program by working hard and having fun at the same time. To give you some background, I was the Head Field Hockey Coach at Hamilton College for 11 years. It was bittersweet to leave Hamilton as I loved my time in Clinton, NY, however, I am very excited in my new journey in growing the game of field hockey and creating a new program! We will play our first game during the Fall of 2018 and we will compete in the Empire 8 Conference. We are slated to play on a watered Astro Turf field which will make us the only team in the Empire 8 to play on a carpet like turf! Some of Sage's most popular majors are: Nursing, Graphic and Media Design, Physical Therapy and Physical Education. At the same time Sage offers a Liberal Arts Curriculum along with Graduate classes. I look forward to hearing from you! Go Gators! Gillian McDonald Head Field Hockey Coach The Sage Colleges mcdon@sage.edu”
