What the Coaches are Saying...
Sep 11, 2018

“My name is Brett Colavolpe, and I'm the head coach for the Albertus Magnus College men's soccer program. Albertus Magnus College is a beautiful liberal arts college that's positioned in Connecticut's most active, culturally enriching, and entertaining city of New Haven. I have the distinct pleasure of being an alumnus of Albertus Magnus College, and also playing soccer all four years of my undergraduate studies. I was the assistant coach for the program for ten years prior to being appointed as the head coach. Our program's history and development has yielded multiple conference championships, and a NCAA tournament appearance in 2012. We've had a myriad of All-Conference players, over ten All-Region (All-New-England) players, and two All-American players pass through our program. Our coaches and players have all contributed to develop a highly successful program at the NCAA Division III level, and establish a tight knit brotherhood of alumni that are always there for each other and return every year for games and college events. Our program values a hard work ethic, competitive attitude, willingness the improve, knowledge of the game, and most important, a love for the game. We pride ourselves on being well rounded, with backs that understand how to play aggressively both offensively and defensively. Our backs will have sound 1 v 1 man marking skills, and will know how to play out of the back and distribute the ball quickly. Our midfielders are expected to be work horses that can win balls in the air, distribute the ball, play sound defensively, and score. Our strikers must be hard workers that can find different ways to put the ball in the back of the net. Our goal keepers are well rounded regarding athleticism, using their hands and feet well, and distributing out of the back proficiently. The type of players that we recruit come from all backgrounds and sizes. Most importantly we recruit team players that work hard, are committed to strength and conditioning, and improving their game every day. We've built a family at our program, and we want athletes that want a great personalized education where professors know you by name and people are always willing to reach out an help you. If you have goals of contending for conference championships each year and laying a great foundation for your future, then Albertus Magnus College men's soccer is the program for you.”
