Personal Statement
As a little leaguer I was told by my coach that if I wanted to pitch, I need to throw strikes. When the year was completed, I spent the summer working to throw strikes. The next season I had the opportunity to pitch. This is where I really fell in love with pitching. I wasn’t like everyone else, I would ask my dad if we could go pitch, everyone else would ask to go hit. I was never picked to be on all star teams, I was once told by a coach that baseball might not be right for me. Each time I’ve been met with a challenge or failure I’ve worked harder to meet my goals. As a freshman I had the opportunity to help my varsity teammates reach the third round of our state playoffs. Throughout the season I started multiple games including two playoff game threes, winning both. Being a part of a team of hard workers and helping to achieve our goals has been unbelievable. I still have many goals to reach, I am looking forward to being a part of a program where I can continue to work hard to reach these goals.
Academics have always come easy to me; I enjoy math and science. My competitive nature pushes me to perform in the classroom as much as on the field. I have been a part of our school’s scholars bowl, math, and robotics team. I had the opportunity to compete at the world’s robotics championships four out of the five years on the team. I am looking forward to pursuing a career in computer engineering, cybersecurity’s, or business and finance.
My coach has said be a jungle animal not a zoo animal. I take this to mean I should strive to be feared more than seen. I enjoy putting a little bit of fear into my competition.
