COMMITTED to the University of Montevallo. Go Falcons!
My name is Parker Briggs and I am a rising senior at McAdory High School in McCalla, AL. I made the varsity team as a sophomore, and threw my first varsity complete game shut out on March 20, 2015 and my first no-hitter on April 11, 2015. Our team worked hard in the off season and made it to first round of state playoffs during the 2016 season. I am a RHP and am able to play infield/outfield. Although I have historically played 3B, I moved to RF this year to help fill a void on my team. I pitched in several varsity games including three complete games this season, and really enjoyed my time in the outfield. I love baseball, am a team leader and will out work anyone. I believe hard work and conditioning builds muscle memory which elevates my level of play for our team. I am coachable and able to quickly make recommended adjustments to ensure our success on game day. I strive for continual improvement and worked during the off season with a sports trainer on fielding techniques. I have a strong desire to play baseball at the collegiate and/or pro level and am looking for a school that will capitalize on and maximize my talents.
Baseball is an important part of my life, and I leave everything out on the field. My goal for the 2017 baseball season is to continue to be a leader on my team and make a positive impact on each and every game, practice or scrimmage I participate in. I played with ABA Alabama Yankees in 2015 earning a batting average of .429 and made the 2015 Perfect Game All Tournament Team/Memorial Day Classic at Lakepoint in Atlanta, GA.
I am a disciplined athlete with a work ethic that reflects in my performance both on the field and in the classroom. I not only listen, but I take action on what coaches and recruiters are saying about the need for good grades and academic strength. My junior academic schedule included AP History, AP Chemistry, AP English, Algebra 2/Trig, and Business Finance. I earned a cumulative GPA of 3.92 through my junior year, my class rank is 45 out of 244 and I am in the top 18% of my graduating class. I was inducted into National Honor Society on April 14, 2015 and inducted into Mu Alpha Theta on February 23, 2016. My peers elected me to Student Government Chaplain for the 2013/2014 school year.
I am looking for the best opportunity where I can balance my love for baseball and my academic needs at the collegiate level. My dream is to be a key player for a Division 1 baseball program and would love to be drafted into the MLB someday. I am a peer leader and committed to being a positive role model and mentor for others on and off the field.
