Personal Statement
Basically, I was born with a baseball in my hand. From the time I learned to walk and talk, I have wanted to be a baseball player. I live, eat and breath baseball! I feel I have a lot to offer a collegiate team. I am a team player, with a strong work ethic. I believe what makes me different from other recruits is my ability to make other players interested in the game and take it more seriously than just a game. It is a just a game, but I want everybody, not just teammates to play every game like its their last. I play baseball year round, and I work continuously at perfecting my game. I'm never satisfied with my performance. I once had a coach tell me that when he was in high school his dad was constantly critiquing him. One game he went three for four, and the first thing his dad said was, "What happened on that fourth at bat?" This gave me the mentality to never be satisfied with what you have done, be content with the gift God gave you, but never be satisfied with how you use it. If you ever become satisfied with yourself, you will start to slack off your game. I know that someone is always working to take my place, so I have to work to stay ahead of the game. I work hard during baseball season and even harder during the off season.
I am an honor roll student, and know the importance of staying clean and healthy. I also enjoy working with younger kids teaching them the fundamentals of baseball. I give lessons after school as a way of giving back to the community. I teach with the motto, "Hard work beats talent when talent isn't working hard."
There were so many people involved in helping me become the player I am today. My parents, coaches, teammates, family, and friends all played a part in molding me into the player and person I am today. I want to give back as much as I can. All I have ever dreamed of is playing baseball, and I know that I can play at the collegiate level.
