I started playing baseball in our neighborhood park with no glove, no bat, and in just a plain tee and jean shorts. Growing up in a neighborhood where not too many options were provided, the only choice my mother gave me was to play sports so I would not end up on the streets. There where times when I knew that baseball might be my only option to go to college and be the first one from my family to graduate with a degree.
Playing baseball at the age of five, I have learned important lessons. The main lesson I have learned is that nothing gets handed to you. l I have learned that I can push myself to certain levels that I never thought I would reach. I know that I have many levels to accomplish. It’s been tough… But not impossible with my mother to help me with my academics and the sport I enjoy playing: baseball. She is my world and I appreciate everything she has done for me. I am very excited and look forward to new and exciting adventures.
