I'd like to address my goals first, because it's all about the process, and focusing on the process gets you to the end result. My primary goal right now is to decide which college will be the best fit for me, considering my goals, baseball program and team needs and strengths, and scholarship availability. I hope and even expect to secure some academic scholarship funds, but I want to be a significant contributor to a college baseball program that will also reward my abilities and commitment with a scholarship. While a coaching staff observes me, and the dedication, hard work and baseball skills I bring to the table, I need to also do the best I can to evaluate the program, the coaching staff and their strengths, the team record and vision to see if the program and staff can help take me to the next levels of skill too.
Although an interest in a particular career choice may change over the next few years, currently I'm most interested in a sports-medicine degree program, or possibly a criminology major of some kind. I do have some interest in other areas, but I feel that I have some more time to explore those areas before I come to a decision. It's important to me to be selective in choosing a college, but it's also important for me to commit to one sooner than later. I expect to be a vital role on my Varsity team being it's my senior year.
Finally, just like every kid, I have aspirations of playing Major League Baseball. Being the utility player I am, I am not sure what position will take me farthest, but I enjoy being versatile and reliable anywhere in the filed. But I know that I do have at least a small chance, and with the right team, the right coaching, the right exposure...that chance can get better. College baseball that helps me to attain my degree, that helps me to start a great career, and that sums up my aspirations and goals for my coming years. But for me it's more about the process goals than it is the end result. I want to enjoy the time I have in my senior year and in college. But obviously it's good having the accomplishments along the way.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear from you.
