I’ve been a team leader ever since I started playing baseball. I am a catcher, primarily, because I like calling the game and being in on every pitch and I like strategy. I think that the pitcher/catcher relationship is important and I strive to help my pitchers execute. Catching is about much more than data and pop times. Catchers must have passion, positive energy and leadership; it's an unselfish position and honestly, at times thankless. There are intangibles that come with being a catcher and I am the intangible. My personality brings balance to a team. While I get good grades, and I’m athletic, these aren’t the only skills that are important to being successful in baseball or life. A certain amount of street smarts and basic life skills are just as important. I’m a well rounded person, able to successfully balance an academic career, athletics, friends, family and God.
