Baseball is a game that has been a part of me since I was two years old. My brother got me into the sport after I saw him having so much fun. It has shaped me to not only be the player I am today, but also the person and character I portray. It has taught me that failing is not always a bad thing and can always be used an opportunity to learn and grow. Throughout my time in this sport I have learned that you have to move through the past in order to be better for the future. For example, if you make an error on the field whether its physically or mentally, you have to learn from it and get through it in order to not make the same mistake. Academics has always been a very important part of my life. My parents put so much time into their work and sacrifice so much in order to give me what I have today so I see academics as a way to show them I don't take it for granted. My academic goals for high school are to finish strong and increase my GPA as much as possible before the end of my Senior year. My academic goals in college are to focus on learning as much as possible and growing as a person. I plan on studying Political Science but would also like to keep my options open to whatever interests me. I am currently playing for Diamond Bar High School varsity and lettered as a sophomore. I played 1st base throughout the season and started most games and DH'd whenever I wasn't playing the field. I batted cleanup throughout most of the season and learned a lot from the upperclassmen. I also earned the award of being named a member of 2nd Team All League. During the summer I play for a travel team called the Piranhas and Stars N Spikes 23 where I play primarily 3rd base and sometimes 1st. I am always open to playing and learning about new positions in case I need to step up and play a new spot. I bat 3rd and cleanup on the Piranhas. We are a primarily 2023 group but also have kids of older ages to learn from and play with. Overcoming obstacles is part of any student athletes journey to success and is nothing new. Throughout my time in this sport I have had to go through many obstacles to find out what's best for me as an athlete. I have learned that some people don't always have your best interests at heart. These are the times you have to step back and focus on what's best for yourself and teammates. I believe that I am a very hardworking person who will always try to be the hardest worker in the room whether its in the gym, field, or classroom. I always focus on improving my weaknesses and continuing to improve my strengths because getting used to be being uncomfortable is a big part of this game. On the field I have a very clear minded and focused personality. I don't let my mind wander off but instead think about the task at hand and make sure that my mind and body are working together to perform my best. My goal has always been to play baseball at the next level and be the best person I can be everyday on and off the field.
