Diego Ortiz '28 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Diego Ortiz, and I am currently in 8th grade at Rincon Middle School. I have been playing baseball for Escondido Youth Baseball league since I was 4 years old. I have been on all-stars since 8uu division and now on their travel team Escondido Select. I have a big passion for baseball and consider it my first love. I have played other sports throughout my childhood, such as football with Pop Warner for 4 years and now play flag football in an after-school program. Football has helped me gain speed and agility skills.  I have also played soccer which has helped me gain better concentration and persistence as a player and teammate.

I have a big personality and like to think of myself as a coachable player and most importantly a great teammate. I believe good team dynamics and players character is just one step on driving a successful season, so I make sure to bring my personal best each time at practice, during and after the game. 

I truly believe in the "Student-Athlete" term so I work hard to balance both equally in driving me to be more competitive, motivated and responsible. 

My dream is to continue my growth as a baseball player, adding more tools to my toolbox to play at a college level and beyond.
