My name is Andrew Penner. I will be graduating in 2013. I have been playing baseball my entire life and it is my passion to continue to play at the next level. I am considerd to be a utility player, but my primary position and position of choice is catcher. I block the ball very well, I am quick on my feet, and I have a great deal of experience in calling a baseball game. I can play lock down defense. I am a line drive hitter who can hit the ball in the gaps and I can run the bases with significant speed. I am a very dedicated player who works hard on and off the field. My leadership abilities helped me to earn the position of team captain my sophomore year. While I may not be as big as my competitors, my love for the game of baseball, my desire to play and my baseball IQ are the qualities that I possess that will keep me in the game. I am also a strong and capable student. I have maintained at least a 3.8 GPA throughout my high school career while playing a sport each season. While it is my dream to play baseball for the rest of my life, I realize the importance of an education. At this point, I think that I would like to work with kids. I have put in over 25 hours of community service this year at the local elementary school working in a kindergarten class. I believe that I have a lot to offer kids and I would be proud to have the opportunity to share my strengths, hopefully making a postitive difference in their lives. As in my own personal case, all kids should believe in themselves and reach for the stars.
