Jason Alper '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jason Alper. I am 6'1" and 195 pounds and I play catcher at Oak Park High School in Oak Park, California. My freshman year I played on the freshman team, and my sophomore and junior year I played on the Junior Varsity team. Sophomore year I took a  leadership role on the team and led the team in every offensive hitting category. I received the Coach's Award for Leadership. This past season I was the starting catcher for the JV team as well as being moved up to Varsity occasionally where I was the DH. I caught every inning of every game on the JV team and batted third or fourth. I led the team in every hitting category and was one of the leaders on the team.  This season I received the MVP award for my JV team. I also play on a club team called Southern California Baseball Academy Patriots on which I am the starting catcher. The last two summers I have played on their 18 and under team, and I was able to hold my own and succeed against older players. This summer I will be playing on my club as well as my school’s varsity team

Our team this year went 18-6 overall, and 8-2 in league and were co-league champs. We outscored our opponents 187 to 84. In 16 games we held opponents to under 3 runs, and 5 of those games were shut outs.

It has been a dream of mine to play baseball at the highest level, and the next step in that dream is playing at the collegiate level. I have been playing baseball since I was five years old and I have always had a passion for it. I have always been known as a great leader and teammate. In 2010 I was named Sportsman of the Year at West Hills Pony League Baseball where I played. The division of the college does not matter as long as I can play somewhere competitively. Location is not an issue for me.

I currently have a 3.1 GPA, but I am working very hard to get it higher. I received a 24 on my ACT and I will be retaking it this June.

I hope to achieve my dream of playing baseball at the highest level, and I know I can bring not only my skills, but also my leadership abilities.
