Personal Statement
My name is Lucas Blaschka. I am 16 years old in my junior year at Skyline High School. I play on the Varsity baseball team as a starting pitcher (RHP) and 3rd baseman. As a freshman; I started out on the J.V. team, but after practices started and we had played 4 pre-season games, the head coach moved me up to Varsity. I am now a starting pitcher and when not pitching I either play 3rd base or outfield. I am a versatile player, adapt quickly and can play well at any position. I have been playing baseball since I can remember and I have a true love for the game.
I take baseball very seriously. I believe that if you put in the hard work, it will pay off. I have played on 4 All-Star teams for my league and understand what hard work is all about. I made the Number 1 Starting Pitcher All City/League my freshman year. This attitude helps me improve to the best I can be and I know contributed to being moved up to Varsity this year. I enjoy playing and want to play baseball for as long as possible. To me, baseball as a career is not about the money or the fame; I think it is about having a fun time like when you played in little league. I don't want to be that guy to watch a teammate get yelled at for making an error. I want to be the person that will go over to him and say, "it's ok.. come right back and get the next one." That is another reason I think I would be a great asset for your team. My goal is to play college baseball and I am open to hearing about programs at nearly all schools.
I played travel ball and enjoyed the experience. Travel ball has helped me get ready for high school ball as well as get me in better physical shape. It has also improved my mental game and has helped me focus academically. I feel I am a well rounded player in terms of skill, teamwork, and an overall positive approach to the game.
