2019 HighlightsEvery kid who is playing baseball will tell you they love the game. I too love the game; however, my love runs deeper than fanaticism or the feeling of hitting the ball square on its mouth. My love of baseball is about the grind, the passion to always get better, and the focus it takes to be your best even when you feel your worst.
My first year of playing t-ball, I was probably three or four. My parents watch the same video of me over and over because there I am, on the mound in a team ball cap that's too big for my head, running after the ball all over the infield, getting frustrated with my teammates who were distracted with ladybugs or their own gloves in front of their faces. I cared too much then as I do now. No two games are ever, ever the same. As an athlete, I have so much to learn, but I can see that I'm way ahead of my peers. I take my training seriously, I respect the game, and I try to encourage everyone around me to have fun. I pride myself on being coachable, and working hard, and being a teammate that others can look up to but who they also enjoy being around. Baseball is a metaphor for life. If you put in the time, if you love what you do and you do it everyday to the best of your ability, you will always come out on top.
My goal is to play through college while I earn my degrees in mathematics. I can see myself teaching and maybe coaching in the future. And I can see how being a player and devoting myself to the game will make me a great teacher and coach one day. If you give it your all, you will succeed. If you love what you do, others will be inspired to love what they do too.
