My name is Joshua Louie, and I will be a Senior at Valencia High School in Placentia, California. I wanted to introduce myself to you because I am hopeful that I may, some day, be able to play baseball at the college level.
I am fully dedicated to becoming a better baseball player. Every day, I do as much as I can to grow physically to improve my game. I place value in having quality at bats every time I step up to the plate, and I thrive in my ability to be selective. Working the count and getting into favorable situations while batting are an important part of my game, and my on base percentage along with my ability to see close to six pitches per at bat are helpful to any team that I play for. I hit for average to all areas of the field, and I am often called upon to bunt for hits as well as sacrificing for the team.
I place high importance on defense and fundamental skills in both the infield and the outfield. At Valencia High School, I am often called upon to play second base, short stop, third base, left field and center field. I have a lot of experience at all of these positions, and I am very proud of my ability to move into any one of them and perform at a high level.
I play travel baseball for the GBG Renegades under Coach Jose Murillo, and I have been playing competitive tournament baseball since I was eight years old. I spent four travel ball seasons with the Chino Hills Thunder, and have traveled to Cooperstown, Myrtle Beach, Park City, and Arizona to play in some of the most prestigious travel ball tournaments in the nation. These two programs have taught me the importance of my role on the team, and I am often called to set the table for the heart of the line up because of my ability to get on base. I also learned how to play several positions on the field while playing with these two programs, and I know that this flexibility provides solutions to the numerous coaching situations faced during important games.
I am an outstanding student, taking honors classes at Valencia High School. Currently, my Weighted Academic Grade Point Average is 4.3, and I do plan on continuing with honors classes along with adding Advanced Placement classes the next two years. I am enrolled in Valencia High School's Val Tech Academy, and my course of study for this academic program is business.
I am humble when I play, and I am very coachable. I hope to play baseball for as long as I can, serving the team, and finding a way to put our unit in a position to win. I do not know how far baseball will take me, but I am happy to continue to contribute in ways that I know by grinding every day. I like my play to be an example for my teammates, and I have experience in setting a good example because I have had to work hard to earn my playing time with every team I have played with. I hope I can continue to do so while I get my college education.
If you have opportunities for players like me, please contact me. I would love to come out to a camp and demonstrate my commitment to the game of baseball. I am thankful for any opportunity to meet with you.
