I have been playing catcher since I was 5 years old. Ever since I finished Little League when I was 13 I have been playing travel baseball. I play baseball all year round. Recently I finished my American Legion Fall baseball season.
Last year I started high school at University Preparatory School in Redding, California. I go there for the school’s academics. It is the top school in the north state and was ranked last year by Newsweek magazine as the 167th best high school in America (Top 1%).
For as long as I can remember it has been my dream to play college baseball. I have worked toward that dream at practice by being the first player on the field and the last player to leave. I hit everyday with my brother and father in my backyard batting cage.
I am a 15 year old 5’11” sophomore, a switch-hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher. Last summer my throwing has been timed at 82 miles per hour on the radar gun. Last spring I was the starting catcher for my varsity team. After the season, I was named 1st Team All-Conference as a catcher. As a freshman I also made six pitching appearances recording 32 strikeouts.
I have been blessed to have been coached by great coaches and I have learned the game from them. Because I love baseball and I am a teacher at heart, I like to share my baseball knowledge with my teammates to help them better understand the game and improve their game as well.
As the starting catcher and a starting pitcher I knew I had the responsibility, even as a freshman, to lead by example on and off the field.
Academics and baseball are both very important to me. Last year as a 14 year old freshman I earned all conference honors as a catcher and 4.0 GPA as a student taking every advanced class available. I am looking for a university where academics and baseball are important. I plan to keep competing at the highest level academically and athletically. I am interested in attending a university with a strong baseball program in any division. I am also looking for a university that will offer me an outstanding education and help me to grow in the classroom and as a person. I am interested in schools from the east coast to the west coast and I am also especially interested in Catholic universities.
