In comparison to most 2023 grads, I'm on the younger side for my grade, but I haven't let that stop me. I have used this to my advantage and have always pushed myself to outcompete at a higher level and with guys older than I am. These challenges have given me the tools to be the player that I am so far. I am passionate about playing at a Div 1 school and to compete right away in addition to getting the best education that my baseball skills will allow me.
Growth Mindset:
I treat every day as an opportunity to get better. I put in the extra work outside of the classroom and field to push myself to be one step better than I was yesterday. There are a lot of people who work hard but when it matters I don't want to second guess the effort I put in.
Adaptable:
There are times in and out of a game that you don't win. But it is how you bounce back from that shows what kind of person you are.
Reliable:
It would be easy to just go through the motions in life, but I personally want to be someone who's in the driver's seat of the things I can control. No one will have to wonder if I'm getting to class and being responsible for myself. For example in my Freshman math class, my teacher had to occasionally leave the class early and she asked me to teach the class in her absence.
Positivity:
Some people have a personality and a way of carrying themself that attracts others. I've seen people in my life that are the opposite. I can say that I feel that I'm not that type of person. If I can be a positive light in someone's life, I get great satisfaction from that. I have enjoyed working at the local food bank over the last few years filling food baskets for those who need them during the holidays.
