Jason Rocha II '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jason Rocha II and I am a class of 2019 student-athlete from Westview High School in San Diego, Ca.  I am a catcher prospect looking to further my education and to continue playing baseball at the next level. It is my hope to do so for a competitive program where I will compete versus the best student athletes in the country.  I want to be challenged to grow both in the classroom and on the baseball diamond as I know this will make me a well-rounded individual as I focus on completing my college education.  The 2019 baseball season will be my last at the High School level.  I want to finish strong as it will be my 3rd year as the Varsity starting catcher.  I have been blessed to have caught the 40th pick in the 2017 MLB draft and for pitchers continuing at the next level at UCSB and Redlands.  I also have enjoyed being the field general/leader on the diamond and I want to help lead Westview to its first CIF championship. 

My love for the game of baseball started at a very early age when I started to play competitive travel baseball. From the age of 10 until now, I have had the opportunity to compete on the baseball diamond versus the top baseball players from San Diego, the Southwestern United States, and beyond.   I believe to play the catcher's position you have to have leadership traits and a true understanding of the game.  As a catcher I am a direct extension of my coach and the pitching staff has to have full confidence and trust in me.  I am also in my second year of playing Scout ball for the Oakland Athletics competing vs the top high school players in Southern California. 

What separates me from other recruits is not only my work ethic, but it is my understanding of the mental side of baseball.  I constantly strive to make my teammates better by setting the example of being a leader on the diamond and trusting the process instilled by our coaches.  I love to compete and I thank you for taking the time to look at my recruiting profile.  Please send me information regarding your baseball program, school admission requirements, financial aid, upcoming camp schedules, or any other helpful information.
