Hello, my name is Devon Benningfield. I am currently a senior at George Washington High School in San Francisco, CA. I am 6’2 and weigh 175 lbs. I am a right handed pitcher throwing about 80 mph with great mechanics, break, and accuracy. I am mainly a pitcher and center fielder but I am also a utility man, being able to play first base, catcher, and all around the outfield.
I have had a passion for baseball ever since I was able to walk. I have a 3.63/4.0 GPA and I am continuing to work hard on my academics. One thing that sets me apart is my work ethic and ability to perform under pressure. I thrive in those big situations that are required to win any game. I've been considered a leader on almost every team I’ve played on and I'm excited to hopefully continue my playing career at the next level.
We just finished our regular high school season where we won the Academic Athletic Association-CIF San Francisco Section All-City Championship, played at Oracle Park, home of the Giants. I pitched a complete game allowing only one run on six hits, and two walks while racking up five K's. I also went 2-4 at the plate with a triple and an RBI single while scoring once. I was also named the 49ers Cal-Hi Sports game MVP as well as Player of the Game by my team.
I have also just been named to the Academic Athletic Association-CIF San Francisco Section All-City Varsity Baseball Team for the 2021-2022 season where I was also named Pitcher of the Year.
