Personal Statement

My name is Andrew Destin, and I am a catcher from Saratoga, California. I currently have a 3.7 cumulative unweighted G.P.A and a 3.9 weighted G.P.A. I have always taken my schooling very seriously, as I believe the true student-athlete should be successful not only on the field but off of it. I am looking to play at a well thought of university, while having the opportunity to fulfill my dream of playing collegiate baseball while receiving a great education. Collegiate baseball is the dream for me because of the opportunity to not only represent yourself, but to be a part of something greater than myself and represent an entire institution.

I attend Lynbrook High School in San Jose, CA, where I play both varsity baseball and basketball. I received all conference honors for both, and in my junior season received 1st  team for baseball, as well as being an all-CCS honorable mention. I was also named 2nd team all-conference for basketball.  I play for the travel ball team Lamorinda under coaches Andy Tarpley and Martin Soares in Pleasant Hill, CA, playing in competitive tournaments across the west coast.  I have steadily gained valuable experience through my years of playing, and continue to amass more every time I step on the field.

My determination to succeed is one that I take great pride in. If you were to ask any coach of mine in the past, I would imagine you would get similar answers; that I am one of the hardest workers on the team, if not the hardest. My experience through this game shows you that nobody ever knows all the answers, and the only way to get better is to keep asking questions and to work on your craft. If you're looking for a player who will grind it out every day, on the field and in the classroom, then there is no better candidate than me.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
