Aiden Magee - Cla...Hello, my name is Aiden Magee. I'm 17 years old, and I'm a senior at Indian River High School in Dagsboro, DE. I'm a part of the Class of 2026. I love to learn, read books, draw, build models, run track and run cross country. I'm a former baseball player who is now focusing solely on my passion for running. My goal is to go to college and earn a degree. If I could go to school and run track and cross country too, that would be amazing. At this time, I think I would like to earn a degree in the medical field. My step-mom is a nurse, and I enjoy being able to help people like she does. I'm currently exploring this pathway in school and really enjoy it.
I played on my middle school baseball team for two seasons (2021, 2022) where we went undefeated, and I also played Junior League baseball through our local Little League organization, where I made the All-Star team in each of my first two seasons (2021, 2022) in the division. I played the OF to take advantage of my speed. I also played the infield (2B) where I was able to showcase both my speed and agility. During the 2021 middle school year, I was also able to run track for my school when our baseball team wasn't playing. I participated in the 100 meter, and Long Jump competitions during that time. I love to run, and track is extremely fun for me. I switched from baseball and ran track for my high school team during the Spring '23 school year. I participated in the Long Jump, 400m, 4x400 relay, and 800m. My very first full-time track season ended with invitations to run in the 2023 Henlopen Athletic Conference (HAC) Championships. I would later earn an invitation to run in the 2023 DIAA Delaware State Championship in the 4x400. I finished my Freshman season by earning a Freshman Lettermans Award and a HAC Academic All-Conference Award for the 2023 season. During the Fall of my Sophomore year, I joined the IRHS Cross Country team and made Varsity. Once the 2023 XC season had ended, I had earned the Henlopen Athletic Conference Honorable Mention award in just my first season. I also earned another HAC Academic All-Conference Award for the 2023 season and a Varsity letter. At the end of my 2024 Track season, I had again been invited to run in the HAC Championships, and then I qualified for the DIAA State Championships in 3/4 events (4x800m, 400m, 4x400m), and I had also achieved my 3rd HAC Academic All-Conference Award. I also earned my 2nd year Lettermans Award, and had the honor of winning the 2024 Coaches Award.
Something that I'm really proud of from my time playing baseball was that I competed in the MLB Pitch, Hit and Run (PHR) competition. In June of 2022, I won my qualifier event, and was then sent to the Team Championship round in September. I was able to compete against kids from the entire Northeast at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA, which was a great experience. I won the Team Championship competition with a score of 1990, just missing being selected for the National Championship round by 75 points. It's an honor being a MLB Pitch, Hit and Run Team Champion, and I'm proud of the hard work it took me over the 4 years I competed in the competition to finally win. I finished the 2022 PHR competition ranked 6th in the country in my age group. I'm also a bat boy for the Wilmington Blue Rocks, Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. It's a fun job, and I love being around the game and the players. I get to learn the other side of baseball, and I also get to experience what it's like being in a pro-dugout, and the sharing of knowledge.
I take my education very seriously, and I'm a very hard working student. I'm currently ranked 7th in my class with a 4.62 GPA. For the '21-'22 school year, I was recognized by my teachers as being a Class Leader, in recognition of my hard work both in the classroom, as well as on the baseball field. I also was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) in December of 2021. One of the things I enjoyed most about being a part of the NJHS is, that we went out into our community and volunteered. We've helped in handing out food to the needy during the Winter a few times, helped our local Little League with their try-outs, season field prep, concession stand, and we also completed a highway clean-up. In the Fall of 2024, I was inducted into the National Honor Society. In the Fall of 2022, I joined my high school LEO Club to allow me opportunities to continue helping in my community. I finished the '22-'23 school year with 35 volunteer hours. I have since continued my membership, and volunteer as often as I'm able.
I took all available honors classes while in middle school, and I'm doing the same in high school too where I'm taking Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment courses. I also completed Algebra 1 & Spanish 1 while in middle school, which allowed me to earn high school credits while in 8th grade. Something that I'm pretty proud of, is that I made my middle schools Honor Roll every marking period dating back to my first year in middle school in 2019. I also made the High Honor Roll in all 4 marking periods during the '22-'23 school year, which was my Freshman year of High School. I also made the High Honor Roll during all 4 marking periods of the '23-'24 school year (Sophomore) as well. In 5th grade, I represented my school at the Envision Leadership Conference that was held in Washington D.C., after being nominated by my teachers. I was most recently nominated to represent my school at the 2024 RYLA Leadership Conference and at the 2024 Congress of Future Medical Leaders. I also have earned the rank of Boy Scout. I took my PSAT in the Spring of '23 (9th grade) and scored a 1020, and again in the Spring of '24 (10th grade) and scored a 1220. I took my SAT's in March of 2025 and scored a 1320 (610 M - 710 R) and I earned the AP Scholar Award w/ Honor.
I feel I would be a good candidate for your school because I work hard, and I'm always willing to learn. I take school very seriously, so in addition to understanding a need to be a good athlete, being a great student is even more important to me. I'm a great teammate, and I'm not afraid to be vocal. I want to compete on the field, the track, and in the classroom.
Thank you for looking at my page, and I look forward to meeting everyone as I go through this journey.
