Personal Statement
I spent my third grade year in Thailand and Vietnam. My family had decided to give up living “traditionally” and travel for a while. My fourth grade year was spent exploring Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, Honduras, Panama, and Chile. I saw buddhist temples in Thailand and a floating city in Peru. My family and I spent several days hiking the Iguazu falls between Brazil and Argentina. The buddhist monks in Thailand welcomed us with open arms. The people in Vietnam were wary of the American tourists. We met people in Peru who lived in a desert where it rained so infrequently that they didn’t put roofs on their homes. In the United States I experienced the vastness and beauty of this country visiting the National Parks.
All these adventures have formed me as a person and changed how I view the world. Traveling allowed me to view life differently and understand people. Being able to see what matters from different people’s point of view helps me be a team player. I have traveled, ridden in motocross, played hockey, enjoyed scuba diving, hunting and fishing but the one thing that has been there my entire life is baseball. I have never missed a season and I really love baseball. I am committed to baseball and I hope to be lucky enough to play and learn at the next level.
