Through playing baseball I was able to discover how to motivate myself and others. I learned how to focus when there are many distractions present. I learned how to shake off the failures of things in the past. Most importantly I learned how to work hard when things get tough. Baseball taught me to put a smile on my face even when frustration is present. Growing up in Alaska, I wasn’t always able to play baseball due to the weather. Eventually I realized I had to leave if I wanted to play baseball at higher levels. I decided to leave home to go to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. It was very hard to leave my friends and family, but I knew it had to be done to continue my baseball career. Looking back I don’t regret it at all because I have learned so many different things about myself and others. I want to win in collegiate baseball at all costs. I want to turn my team into a team that can't lose even when we do. Academically, I want to study and focus on business and finance. I feel that this area of study is of high interest to me and will be beneficial professionally in the long run. I think that it will teach me discipline that I will be able to use to my advantage in the future. I look forward to a college experience that provides a winning baseball culture as well as great academic opportunities.
