Personal Statement

My goal in life is to play baseball and work as hard as it takes to achieve it. I am looking forward to a college that will help me reach my full potential and obtain a degree in sports journalism.

"To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing to inform you of William Wormsbecher's involvement with the David Posnack Jewish community Center. I have had the pleasure of having William as part of an elite delegation of athlete leaders, who represent Broward County during the JCC Maccabi Gams. While the Games take place one week in the summer, many months surrounding the Games, the teens participate in community service, team building and leadership development and culminate with further community service and actual competition in sport.

William has been an outstanding member of our delegation. He continuously went above and beyond in assisting with the team or the program. As a member of the baseball team, he has shown great leadership skills.

When I think of a leader, I think of William as he would not expect anything less from his teammates that he would not expect of himself. The number of hours William dedicated to the Maccabi program is in excess of 32 from this past summer.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Lori Green

Maccabi Delegation Head

  • William went 7 for 11. He has an admirable work ethic and will do anything possible to better himself as a player. At the plate, William has an open stride with a good direct route to the ball, and extends through the zone on his finish, resulting in easy contact and good power. He does a good job of tracking the ball and swinging only at good pitches. Being slightly more balanced through the hitting process will create more power and consistent contact for William. At first base, he works with proper footwork and fields out in front often, which also speaks to his good picking skills. Agility drills to make his feet quicker which will help increase lateral range. A constant grinder, William has all the makings of a great young prospect.
  • Camp/Event
  • Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown
  • 7/30/15 to 8/04/15
  • William is a big solid 1B that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. At the event, he was 2 for 3. At 1B, he displays proper foot work around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he works to square balls up but needs to present more out front and increase foot quickness to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more armpit strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, William has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to develop.
  • Camp/Event
  • Perfect Game
  • 5/22/15 to 5/25/15
  • Started all games. Batted 6th. Defended first and third with great precise and properly executed plays. Some of which were game changing plays and a few double plays.
  • Camp/Event
  • Flagler College Prospect Preview
  • 1/31/15 to 1/31/15
  • Camp/Event
  • Perfect Game
  • 12/27/13 to 12/30/13
  • Camp/Event
  • Summer Baseball Workout
  • 5/23/13 to 7/27/13
  • He started 85% of the time and was even asked by the head coach to play up with the JV team which gave him the opportunity to play with older athletes. The only downside this summer was getting rained out and not being able to play some game. He also batted 5th the whole time.
