I grew up playing the game of baseball since I was about three years old. Baseball has allowed me to develop many characteristics: such as my competitiveness, my work ethic, my motivation to succeed and most importantly my leadership abilities.
My work ethic has helped me succeed in life. I demonstrated this by waking up at 4:30 a.m. to hit 100 baseballs before going to school, arriving to practice early, working out every day after practice ended when no one else was. Character is what you do when no one else is looking. My work ethic paid off this year when I achieved the title of Captain for Gateway High School.
More than a baseball player, I am an athlete and a fast learner. This past year, our team was struggling at first base. While I was the starting catcher, we had a solid back up in this position. My coaches approached me and asked if I would consider playing first base to help the team. I took on that position and excelled quickly.
My goal is to find the right college/university that will challenge me academically while allowing me to grow as a player. If I can find that place, the sky is the limit with my academics and athletics.
