Personal Statement

As a kid I played multiple sports and was always involved in some kind of physical activity. Sports has been such a big part of my life that it would be hard for me to let it go so easily, I find sports very intriguing and I love to compete, that is why I have chosen to major in Sports Management. I believe that staying around sports will be great.

Before high school, what I wanted to do when I grew up wasn’t really set in stone in my head. There were many other things that came through my head, but also at the same time didn’t interest me as much as going into Sports Management does. I am very good, above average you could say, in Mathematics. That is the only subject that I can succeed in while taking AP or Honors classes, well I think so. In the rest of my classes I am at about a B- average,  my cumulative being a two point five. Engineer was one of the jobs that came through my head, I looked it up and was well aware of the amount of pay that Engineers get, but that’s not what life is about. I would much rather enjoy something and get less pay, than do something that gets high pay, but I don’t enjoy doing it. Going off of that statement, I also enjoy playing, and competing in baseball.

Baseball has been a big part of my life for 12 years now. It is something that I have become very comfortable doing, but you also can’t shake that nervousness before the start of every season. I am a 5’5”,  145 pound second baseman. My speed isn’t quite where I would like it to be, but that is something that I have been putting work into. During my Freshman year of High School I suffered a back injury that kept me out for my whole JV season, but when I came back for my second year of JV, I came out with a bang. I kept my batting average consistently above a three-hundred, played all over the field, going from left field to second base, and also catcher, and was a very successful bunter. I got pulled up to Varsity that year, after one of my best years, but did not start. I am looking forward to starting this year, being my Junior year, at second base. Even if I don’t start this year, that will just give me more drive to work harder to start the next game.

I am fully aware of the outstanding baseball program that your school has and the standards that I need to be at athletically and academically in order to be available for a scholarship, no matter the amount. I also know that, in addition to your baseball staff, the school faculty is quite amazing. I appreciate that you took the time to read this and I hope I will get the privilege of attending your school.
